Many people in Egypt especially teenagers suffer from different reasons but most of them suffer in silence. They don’t talk about their suffering that’s why most of them face psychological problems. But today Salma Nader decided to talk about her suffering as she is a Tourette syndrome victim.
Salma is a 21 years old; she is a student in arts faculty. When Salma was 14, she noticed that she has light shaking in her body but she did not take any action to it at that time. After 3 years when she became 17, the shaking increased with sudden words in high voice. This is called ‘’ Tics’’. However she noticed these tics, she didn’t go to doctor as she thought that this may be stress because she was in high school. But after she finished high school, her tics didn’t stop and this was the beginning of her story.
Salma went to many doctors neurologists or psychological therapists but both didn’t know the reason behind her sufferings, she made a lot of rays but there results were good. Her final option was to start searching on internet. She wrote everything she feels and she found that she has Tourette.
Salma’s tics were both vocal and physical. She tried to control these tics to not bother people around her but every time she try to control them, her suffering increase. Because controlling tics unfortunately affect the person negatively mentally and psychologically.
All what Salma wanted was to have her basic human rights. She wished to live her life without bullying, without people staring at her all the time and without feeling that she is not a normal person.
That’s why she decided to make a video of her talking about her tics and what Tourette is. She tried to help herself by informing people with her case. This video, she uploaded it on many social media platforms like Facebook and Instagram. And many people shared it to spread more awareness.
After this video Salma’s life became better. However she still suffer from Tourette syndrome but she started to live a normal life around people understand her conditions and accept her case.
